Trackstar the DJ

Trackstar the DJ is an American DJ, mixtape producer, and hip hop educator, born February 10, 1981. He was born in Madison, Wisconsin and spent the formative years of his career (1999–2009) in St Louis, Missouri[1] before moving to Los Angeles. He is best known for his creative mixtape concepts,[2] a consistent and prolific release schedule (over 100 mixtapes to date), and affiliation with popular blog The Smoking Section[3].

A regular spinning at the A3C and SXSW music festivals, he is the official tour DJ for Grammy-winner Killer Mike has performed onstage with other notable MCs such as Black Milk, Black Spade, Pill, Outasight, Skyzoo & Vandalyzm, and opened for Busta Rhymes, Talib Kweli, Rakim, Royce da 5’9”, Kidz in the Hall, Curren$y, J. Cole, Freeway, Brother Ali, dead prez, and B.o.B., among others.[4]

Hip Hop Education

In 2005 Trackstar started a 501(c)3 non-profit organization called The Center for Recording Arts, through which he has given lectures on hip hop history, DJ lessons and led hip hop workshops for youth of all ages in classrooms and detention centers.[5]

Radio

Trackstar began his DJ career at KWUR 90.3FM at Washington University in St Louis in 1999. More recently he appeared monthly on Sirius XM Hip Hop Nation with his RMF Radio segment on DJ Jamad's Afromentals from April 2009 to January 2010.
